Websites for SMEs and Individuals

Web design in Zurich: concept, design, development
and support from a single source.

Alle Services

Your business is unique, and your website should reflect that. With a solid concept, custom design, and tailored development using ProcessWire, we’ll create a website that reflects your business and helps it grow – all while staying on the cutting edge of technology: easily found by search engines and AI chatbots, accessible, secure, easy to maintain, and a pleasure to use. As your business grows, your website grows with it, and I’ll be right by your side.

Design that looks like you

Your website should reflect who you are, not look like it was created by a design agency or using a pre-made template. The design is tailored to your business – it’s not just a cookie-cutter solution. If needed, I can provide branding, print materials, and website design – all from a single source. I work in Figma and collaborate with trusted partners as needed.

Content and features made to measure

Your content isn't forced into predefined fields: page types, content elements, and workflows are tailored to your business, without options you don't need. As your needs grow, the website grows with you – with a store, APIs, AI integrations, a members-only area, or your own internal web app.

Accessible and discoverable by everyone

A clean structure, fast loading times, and well-organized data so that search engines and AI chatbots can find you. Accessible so that everyone can use the site, and available in as many languages as needed – with automated translation – so that maintenance doesn’t become a drag.

Evolve and support

No need for a complete rebuild every few years: As your business grows, the design can evolve with it – while the system and your data remain intact. And I’ll remain your technical point of contact – without a ticket system or waiting on hold – for new features, updates, backups, and everything related to hosting.

Websites for SMEs and Individuals

One person, not an agency

I’m Nuél Schoch, a designer and developer from Zurich. I’ve been freelancing for 20 years and have hundreds of projects under my belt. I handle analysis, strategy, concept, design, and development all under one roof. When I design, I’m already thinking about implementation, and when I develop, I keep the design in mind. This saves on coordination, money, and misunderstandings.

If additional expertise is needed—for graphic design, photography, video, or copywriting—I’ll bring in the right people from my network. I’ll remain your point of contact.

  1. 01

    Contact

We'll get to know each other, discuss the timeline, scope, and goals, and I'll estimate the effort required.

During our initial consultation, we’ll clarify what the website is intended to do, who it’s designed for, and what background workflows it should support. I’ll analyze the market landscape and competition and review existing content and systems. Based on this, I’ll prepare a proposal outlining the scope of work and a timeline.

  2. 02

    Concept

We determine which pages, content, and features the website needs.

The goals are translated into a structure: a sitemap, page types, and the content required for each. We determine which features, modules, and components are needed, as well as forms, multilingual support, and interfaces. Initial wireframes show how the pages are structured and interconnected before we move on to the design phase.

  3. 03

    Design

The design is created in Figma – either by me, with the network, or with your own team.

The design is created in Figma, using grids, colors, and fonts, and includes all the key pages for desktop, tablet, and mobile. I can design it myself, collaborate with a partner from my network, or work with the templates provided by your own graphic designers – whether they’re in Figma, PDF, or Illustrator format.

  4. 04

    Development

I'm building the website with ProcessWire so you can update the content yourself.

I'll implement the design using clean code and set up ProcessWire so that you can edit everything yourself and have the necessary automations in place. The fields in the backend are tailored to your content, without any unnecessary clutter. I'll migrate existing content from old systems or from the data you provide.

  5. 05

    Go-Live

We test everything in a test environment, and then the website goes live.

We'll work together to test the website on all devices and browsers in a test environment. After the final revisions, I'll launch it on your hosting platform. You'll receive a brief introduction to the backend, access to an integrated help desk with all the answers you need, and I'll be there to assist you with updates and adjustments.

Häufige Fragen

How much does a website cost?

Honestly, it depends. A website with a few pages is built faster than a platform with a shop and three languages. My hourly rate is CHF 160. After our first talk you get a quote with effort and timeline, so you know where you stand.

How long until go-live?

Allow two to six months from the initial meeting to go-live, including any delays. Often, waiting for text and images takes longer than the actual development. We’ll work out the schedule together at the beginning.

Are there any recurring costs?

This covers only your hosting and domain, plus any costs associated with third-party providers or AI models that run through modules and integrations. ProcessWire is open source and free; the code and data belong to you. As long as nothing fundamental changes, there are no annual maintenance fees on my end.

Can I edit the website myself?

Yes. I build with ProcessWire and set up the backend so you can manage texts, images and pages yourself. You get an introduction and a help desk with the key answers.

Why ProcessWire and not WordPress?

WordPress is the fast-food chain of CMS platforms; it boasts ready-made templates, a drag-and-drop builder, plugins, and the ability to set it up on your own without a developer. That works fine until an update breaks the plugins or security vulnerabilities arise. ProcessWire is the specialized system for completely customized solutions: no plugin jungle, low-maintenance, secure and stable for years, and the backend adapts to your content – not the other way around. Updates are needed only every two to three years – you can do them yourself in the backend, or I can handle it for you, usually in five minutes. Read more about this in the article “ProcessWire – The CMS of Your Dreams.”

Do you work with AI?

Yes. I've integrated AI into my workflow for many tasks, especially during development and data migration. This makes my work more efficient and faster, and it frees up time for conceptualization, design, special features, and fine-tuning.
